Susanna Freymark is an author, journalist and editor based in the Northern Rivers, NSW.

She founded and edits IndyNR.com, an independent news service covering the Richmond Valley and Kyogle areas. Her short story and poem collection Smoke & Other Stories was published in May 2026. She published a novel Losing February with Pan Macmillan in 2013.

Susanna has had short stories published in anthologies including The Wisdom of Women (Allen & Unwin) and the UTS Creative Writing Anthology. She holds a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Technology Sydney.

Before writing and journalism, she taught in a primary school in Central Australia and owned a children’s bookshop in London — experiences that shaped a lifelong belief that stories matter because they connect us.
